On Walking Through our Broken World
The horrors and tragedies of our world are no longer hidden from view. There are cameras everywhere. The news is reported as it happens. Floods, fires, hurricanes, and earthquakes. Disasters caused by man – shootings, bombings, massacres, genocide, and war. It is right there for us to see. We can no longer pretend that all is right in our world. It isn’t. Maybe it hasn’t been for centuries, but that doesn’t give us permission to ignore what is happening.
We have free will choice about how we react. We can stick our heads in the sand, ignore it, refuse to let it interfere with our personal reality. We can take the high road of ‘love and light’, of spiritual bypassing. We can get caught up in the mass fear and mass anger. But how do these options help to shift what is happening?
For many of us, the time for standing on the sidelines is over. Righteous anger has a place. Holding those who are suffering in our awareness and our prayers, bearing witness to what they are going through, has a place. Making a contribution to those on the ground providing aid has a place. Speaking out for restoration, for reparation, for finding solutions, for justice, for empathy, for compassion, has a place. Find your way to make a difference – for a friend, locally, nationally, or globally. No, we cannot fix it all, but if every one of us were to undertake one single act of kindness and compassion, collectively we can make a huge difference.
Take care of yourself first so that you have the ability to give. If we empty ourselves physically or energetically we cannot give without harm to ourselves. Reach out and ask for help when you need it, as I did. A few days ago I knew that I needed lifting up energetically and spiritually so I reached out to those I know who have the tools and knowledge to help. They did, and the shift was almost immediate. Not only did I feel better, but I am now stronger because of it.
My offer to you is this, when the world or life gets you down I will sit with you, listen to you, and hold a space for you. I am offering this as a gift, although donations are gratefully received. If I can help you in order for you to be able to help others, then that is what is important.
Let all of us who have roofs over our heads, running water, safety, food, and the necessities of life give constant thanks. Let us live and walk with gratitude in our hearts, our bodies and our spirits. Let it radiate out. I AM GRATEFUL.
If you wish to stand with me please message me, like my Finding the Magic Within Facebook page, or share my blogs. Thank you. In Gratitude. Elizabeth.
